In the host nation of Austria, Semi-Final One of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 was the most-watched Semi-Final since the country last hosted in 2015.

An average audience of 622,000 viewers watched Semi-Final One of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 live from Vienna. The number of viewers is up 330,000 compared to the first Semi-Final in 2025, with audience share for last nights show at 30% of television viewers. The competition was the most-watched show on ORF 1 yesterday, with Eurovision Song Contest content being aired from 17:55 CET to 23:22 CET. The last time Austria hosted in 2015, 803,000 viewers watched Semi-Final One live.

Austria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957. Bob Martin represented the country on their debut but finished in last place, scoring just 3 points. Austria has won the contest three times, the first being in 1966 when Udo Jรผrgens performed โ€œMerci, Chรฉrieโ€. It was 48 years later when Austria won again in 2014, when Conchita Wurst performed โ€œRise Like a Phoenixโ€, scoring a total of 290 points. Austriaโ€™s third win came in 2025, when JJ sang โ€œWasted Loveโ€ and scored 436 points.
