Test the Song Contest 2007 was a proposed multi-national show to be broadcast ahead of the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.
Test the Song Contest 2007 was proposed in May 2006 by the EBU in collaboration with the Dutch television producer Eyeworks. The contest would put countries’ knowledge of the Eurovision Song Contest against the test to find out which country in Europe knows the most. The show was scheduled to take place on April 28, 2007.
The show was canceled on October 2, 2006, due to a lack of interest from EBU member broadcasters. The EBU Head of Special Events, Jeroen Depraetere stated that:
Not enough EBU members were interested to take part inย this programme, this makes it too expensive to organise this show.
Mr. Depraetere added that if national versions of the format were successful, the EBU would consider creating “Test the Song Contest”.
