NTR has confirmed that they will not be participating in Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 in Bodø, Norway.
NTR has confirmed to Eurovoix that it will not be participating in the next edition of Eurovision Young Musicians when it takes place in August 2024. The broadcaster has not participated in Eurovision Young Musicians since the 2014 contest in Cologne, Germany.
Before 2014 the Netherlands one was of the most active participants in Eurovision events, participating in both the Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision as well as the competitions for young dancers and musicians. In 2016 the Netherlands withdrew from Eurovision Young Musicians, due to significant budget cuts at NTR.
The Netherlands participated in Eurovision Young Musicians between 1984 and 2016. Between 1992 and 1998, the country withdrew from the contest, but returned in 2000. The country’s best result came in 1984 and 1990, when they won the competition.
Eurovision Young Musicians 2024
Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 will be held in the city of Bodø. Bodø which will be the European Capital of Culture is playing host to a Eurovision event for the first time, while Young Musicians returns to Norway for the first time since 2000.
The twenty-first edition of the contest will be held on August 17. To date, two countries have confirmed their participation in the contest:
The competition for musicians between the ages of 12 and 21 and has been held since 1982, as the first spin-off contest of the Eurovision Song Contest. The event celebrated its twentieth edition in 2022 when Montpellier, France hosted the competition.
Over the twenty editions of the competition, a total of forty-two countries have competed across the history of the competition. Norway has competed in nineteen out of the twenty contests, tied with Austria. Austria is the most successful country having won 5 editions and competed in 15 finals.
