Česká televize has confirmed to Eurovoix that they will be participating in Eurovision Young Musicians 2024.
The Czech public broadcaster has confirmed its intention to participate in Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 in Norway. Czechia are the most recent winners of the contest with Daniel Matejča having taken victory for the country in the 2022 contest in France.
Czechia made its debut in Eurovision Young Musicians at the 2002 contest in Berlin, Germany. They made their debut in the 2002 contest alongside Romania, unlike Romania, the Czech Republic qualified for the final. The Czech Republic withdrew from the contest in 2004 and 2008, before returning to compete at every contest to date since 2010.
No details have been announced to date by Česká televize regarding how their participant for the 2024 contest will be chosen.
Eurovision Young Musicians 2024
Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 will be held in the city of Bodø. Bodø which will be the European Capital of Culture is playing host to a Eurovision event for the first time, while Young Musicians returns to Norway for the first time since 2000.
The twenty-first edition of the contest will be held on August 17. To date, two countries have confirmed their participation in the contest:
- Czechia – CT
- Norway – NRK
- Slovenia – RTVSLO
The competition for musicians between the ages of 12 and 21 and has been held since 1982, as the first spin-off contest of the Eurovision Song Contest. The event celebrated its twentieth edition in 2022 when Montpellier, France hosted the competition.
Over the twenty editions of the competition, a total of forty-two countries have competed across the history of the competition. Norway has competed in nineteen out of the twenty contests, tied with Austria. Austria is the most successful country having won 5 editions and competed in 15 finals.
