Spain: RTVE Releases Full OT Gala Songs

Spanish broadcaster RTVE has released the full versions of the songs that will compete in the Eurovision Gala for Operación Triunfo on Sunday.

The ten songs vying to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 have now been released in full, after originally being selected by an online vote, with the public voting on demo versions of all of the songs. The ten songs have now been revamped ahead of the national final on January 20. The ten songs that will compete in the Eurovision Gala are:

  • María – “Muérdeme” – Public Vote Qualifier
  • Noelia – “Hoy vuelvo a reír otra vez” – Public Vote Qualifier
  • Natalia – “La clave” – Public Vote Qualifier
  • Famous – “No puedo más”
  • Miki – “La venda”
  • Marilia – “Todo bien”
  • Natalia y Miki – “Nadie se salva”
  • Sabela – “Hoy soñaré”
  • Julia – “Qué quieres que haga”
  • Carlos – “Se te nota”

The winner of the Eurovision Gala of Operación Triunfo will be decided by public voting alone will decide the winner. However, unlike last year’s selection, there will only be one round of voting.

Amaia y Alfred were selected through the previous edition of Operación Triunfo to represent Spain in Lisbon last year. They finished 23rd in the final with a total of 61 points, following their performance of “Tu canción”.

Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has competed annually since. Spain has won the contest on two occasions the first being in 1968 and the second time in 1969. 1969 is the only year where more than one song has won the contest, the 1969 contest saw a four-way tie between Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Since 2000 Spain has only managed to finish in the top.10 on five occasions, the last time being in 2014 with Ruth Lorenzo. However, the country has finished 20th or below on nine occasions, the worst placement being 26th in 2017.
