The woman who will sing for Austria in Tel Aviv is expected to be revealed on radio on 29 January.
The name will be announced on the Ö3 alarm clock show by presenter Eberhard Forcher who has been involved in this year’s internal selection and was previously involved in the process which selected Nathan Trent (2017) and Cesar Sampson (2018) for Eurovision.
According to Eurovision Austria, this years Austrian participant will be a female artist.
The singer Hyäne Fischer has been rumoured as one of the artists on the shortlist to represent Austria at Eurovision 2019. She received widespread coverage in Austria and Germany after posting on social media that she would sing for Austria. The broadcaster ORF denied these rumours. Earlier this month, it was suggested that three artists had made the shortlist presented to ORF by Eberhard Forcher.
In 2018, placed 3rd at Eurovision in Lisbon with his song “Nobody But You”. Cesar topped the jury voting receiving nine sets of 12 points from the jury before finishing 13th with the public televote on 71 points. Austria have won the contest twice in history, most recently in 2014 with Conchita Wurst. The 2015 contest was held in Vienna.

Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest
Austria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957, Bob Martin represented the country on their debut, but finished in last place scoring just 3 points. The country has gone on to finish last in the contest on 8 occasions. Austria has won the contest on two occasions, the first being in 1966 when Udo Jürgen performed “Merci, Cherie”. It was 48 years later than Austria won again when Conchita Wurst performed “Rise Like a Phoenix” scoring a total of 290 points.
