Just under 1.9 million viewers watched last night as Miki was selected as the Spanish entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv.
1,892,000 viewers watched last night as Operación Triunfo Eurovisión Gala was aired on La 1. The show which selected the Spanish entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 had a share of 11.6%.
The overall figures represent a drop of 1,194,000 viewers over the same selection show last year. The show was the 9th most watched show of the 2018 season of Operación Triunfo, but had the lowest viewing share of any show this season.
The results of the Eurovisión Gala were as follows:
- Marilia – “Todo bien” – 6% – 6th
- Sabela – “Hoy soñaré” – 2% – 9th
- Famous – “No puedo más” – 5% – 7th
- Natalia – “La clave” – 6% – 5th
- Julia – “¿Qué quieres que haga?” – 3% – 8th
- Miki – “La venda” – 34% – 1st
- Noelia – “Hoy vuelvo a reír otra vez” – 7% – 4th
- Carlos – “Se te nota” – 1% – 10th
- Natalia y Miki – “Nadie se salva” – 14% – 3rd
- María – “Muérdeme” – 22% – 2nd
The show also featured a performance from Eleni Foureira, who finished second in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. A jury was also on hand to give their thoughts on all the performances. The jury consisted of:
- Manuel Martos
- Pastora Soler – Represented Spain at Eurovision 2012
- Tony Aguilar – Spanish commentator
- Doron Medalie – Composer of “Toy”, the winning entry of Eurovision 2018
Amaia y Alfred were selected through the previous edition of Operación Triunfo to represent Spain in Lisbon last year. They finished 23rd in the final with a total of 61 points, following their performance of “Tu canción”.

Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has competed annually since. Spain has won the contest on two occasions the first being in 1968 and the second time in 1969. 1969 is the only year where more than one song has won the contest, the 1969 contest saw a four-way tie between Spain, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Since 2000 Spain has only managed to finish in the top.10 on five occasions, the last time being in 2014 with Ruth Lorenzo. However, the country has finished 20th or below on nine occasions, the worst placement being 26th in 2017.
