Vanja Radovanović will be representing Montenegro at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song “Inje”.
Tonight the final of Montevizija took place in Podgorica, Montenegro, which saw five artists battle it out for the chance to represent the country in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. In the end, it was Vanja Radovanović who came out on top with the song “Inje”. The winner tonight was decided solely on public televoting.
Performing tonight was:
- Nina Petković – “Dišem”
- Vanja Radovanović – “Inje”
- Ivana Popović Martinović – “Poljupci”
- Katarina Bogićević – “Neželjena” (2nd place)
- Lorena Janković – “Dušu Mi Daj” (3rd place)
In the top 3 tonight were Vanja Radovanović, Katarina Bogićević, and Lorena Janković. The interval act featured Slavko Kalezić who represented the country in last year’s contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. His entry “Space” placed 16th in his semi-final. This was the first time since 2008 that Montenegro used a national final to choose their participant for Eurovision.
Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent country in 2007, and participated until 2010 when they withdrew for financial reasons. They returned to the contest in 2012, and since then have always chosen their entry internally. Montenegro failed to qualify for the grand final until 2014, when Sergej Ćetković and his song “Moj svijet” placed 19th in the final. Their best result came a year later, when Knez performed “Adio” in Vienna. They have never reached the top 10, with Knez reaching 13th out of 27 countries. Their most recent entrant, Slavko Kalezić, reached 16th in their semi-final in 2017 with their song “Space”.
