Eight artists have qualified for the final of EMA 2018, which will take place on February 24.
Sixteen artists took part in tonight’s semi-final. The show took place in RTVSLO Studio 1 and was hosted by Vid Valič. Four qualifiers were chosen by the public and four were chosen by the jury. All songs tonight were performed in Slovene but in the final, songs can be performed in any language.
The artists who qualified to the final are:
- INA SHAI – V nebo
- Indigo – Vesna
- Lara Kadis – Zdaj sem tu
- BQL – Ptica
- Proper – Ukraden cvet
- Marina Martensson – Blizu
- Nuška Drašček – Ne zapusti me zdaj
- Lea Sirk – Hvala, ne!
Those that were eliminated from the competition are:
- Anabel – Pozitiva
- Tanja Ribič – Ljudje
- KiNG FOO – Žive sanje
- ManuElla – Glas
- MILA – Svoboda
- Orter – Kraljica
- Nika Zorjan – Uspavanka – Lullaby
- Gregor Ravnik – Zdaj je čas
The eight finalists will compete to be the Slovenian representative in Lisbon. Omar Naber represented Slovenia in Kyiv last year with “On My Way”. He finished 17th in semi-final 1 with 36 points, thus failing to qualify for the final.
Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest
Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. The country has participated in 22 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
