HRT has informed Eurosong.hr that a decision on participation in Eurovision 2016 will be made soon.
Croatia has not participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2013 and this year did not broadcast contest on any of HRT’s channels. On Saturday the deadline to withdraw from the competition without facing any financial penalty passed, it is not known if HRT submitted the preliminary paperwork to participate in next years contest. In an email to the website HRT said that:
A decision will be made soon.
To date Portugal has withdrawn from next years contest in Stockholm, while Andorra, Luxembourg Monaco and Slovakia have said they have no intention to return to the contest in 2016.

I hope Croatia returns and Portugal will change their minds! Also Morocco returns and Moldova confirms!
I completley agree with you! Fingers crossed! ????
I don’t think that Croatia will be in Stockholm. They aren’t interested in ESC anymore.
I also hope Turkey decides to take part!
HRT won’t announce it’s decision before November 8th. We’ll have to wait a bit for this one.
We all are aware of the situation of HRT.
It’s not because they withdrew for the past 3 years that it was because of financial issues.
Although I’ve believed in those reasons, I’m not willing to say that’s more than economic reasons, they’re not interested in ESC anymore.
Well, you’ll tell me that you don’t agree and you get the rights to do it while I’m thinking that HRT is maintaining the suspense longer than the other years.
But… WHY ?! I don’t get why Croatia is doing that while Czech Republic has returned in 2015. On the other hand, I think that Croatia has just abandoned ESC because of poor results (To be honest, I expected Croatia to qualify in 2012 and 2013), but… there’s something I get wrong… Why did Croatia act like that when they withdrew in 2014 ? Poland, Portugal, Moldova (who is poorest than Croatia), Andorra did not qualify for 5 years ? 6 years for Latvia ? 8 years for the Netherlands ?! Andorra should return instead of Croatia because they wanted to go through the final whereas they tried hard to do that ! Croatia isn’t interested anymore as I said before.
In spite of my impression, I hope that Croatia will return, even if there are less chances to hope for a Croatian return in 2016.
Very well said. I’m actually thinking the same as you do. It’s sad that Croatia’s not interested any longer.
I see where you’re going with this one, but it’s not true that THEY’re not interested. HE is not interested (we all about whom am I talking about).
As Blaise said we will have to wait, because HRT won’t announce it’s decision before November 8th. Not until our parliamentary elections are done and we know who wins them. HRT is hugely influenced by our national politics and this year is used up in campaign. The two biggest political parties have promised that they will reduce the bills for HRT (HDZ by half for everybody and the current government lead by SDP for all socially endangered people). So HRT can not calculate with stable financial construction for the next year. And also there is the chief edit or of HRT who is just a pawn of government. Spending a lot of money on going back to Eurovision, after all bad results in the last years is not in the interest of current government, because they would be accused for prodigality in the times when half of the school children do not have a warm meal every day.
Also, Nina Kraljić winner of The Voice and the most likely representative of Croatia would not accept the fact that HRT has to employ their incompetent parasites to compose her a song, that is going to be bad, she has her own songs that she plans to release in the following months.
