
Last week saw the Heads of Delegations meeting for Junior Eurovision 2015 and a new member to the Steering Group was elected.
The Steering Group is made up of three elected members as well as representatives of the previous two years host broadcasters, and one member selected by the EBUโs TV Committe. The members after the election on Friday are as follows:
- Armenia โย Gohar Gasparyan (ARMTV) โ Elected for the first time
- Belarus โ Olga Salamankha (BTRC) โ Reelected for 3 years
- The Netherlandsย โ Anja Zagwaard (AVROTROS) โ Reelected for 3 years
- Malta โ Anton Attard (PBS) โ Host broadcaster of 2014 contest
- Russia โย Ekaterina Orlova (RTR) โ EBU TV Committe member, Chairperson of the Group
- Ukraine โย Victoria Romanova (NTU) โ Host broadcaster of the 2013 contest
Gohar Gasparyan replaces the previous SVT member after the Swedish channel withdrew from participating in this years competition. While after this years contest is held Victoria Romanova from Ukraine will be replaced by Joana Levieva-Sawyer from BNT.
At the meeting it was also agreed that for the 2016 competition that the winning country of the 2015 contest will be given first refusal to host the competition. If the country declines to host then it will go to a bidding process.
The next election will take place in three years time in the run up to the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
