From Malta we head to Slovenia. Slovenia has participated in Eurovision Young Dancers since 1993, with their best result coming in 2011 when they finished 2nd behind Norway. Representing Slovenia at this years contest is Staša Tušar, here is what she had to say:
Thank you very much for talking to us, how are you feeling just a week ahead of Eurovision Young Dancers 2015?
I am really excited, I can’t wait to meet all the people that are involved in this project.
What preparations have you been doing in the past couple of months to get ready for the contest in Pilsen?
I have done normal daily training as usual with some more solo rehearsals.
You have been both European and World Champion in the category “Jazz and show dancing”, what do those titles mean to you as a dancer?
Well these titles marked my dance journey from the almost very beginning, they of course have a lot of value to me. I happen to do pretty well at IDO competitions.
As a dancer what does it mean to have the opportunity to represent your home country of Slovenia in front of thousands of viewers across Europe and the world?
In my opinion it is a great honour, after all you are not representing just yourself as a dancer, you represent all the people that put some effort in you, with training and support.
Slovenia has never won Eurovision Young Dancers, how would it feel for you to win?
It would definitely be something special, it would be a true honour I think.
Your routine for Young Dancers is called “Gardenfound”, can you tell us more about it?
It is more of an abstract piece, but it’s playing with the atmosphere and images suggested by music which is very secretive and enigmatic.
We wish Staša the best of luck in the final next week. Tomorrow we will be talking to the participant from the Netherlands, Thijs Hogenboom.
