With just a week to go until Estonia kicks off Eesti Laul, we met up with Kruuv to talk about their participation in Eesti Laul 2015. Here is what they had to say.
May I start by asking you to tell us more about yourselves and how Kruuv began?
Kruuv is a group of good friends that has made happy music since 2007
In February you are set to release your third album, it must be a brilliant feeling to see how far you have come from your start in 2007?
We are very happy to present our third album in February 2015. Since 2007 it has been a great journey and we are greatful to all our fans who have kept us inspired and motivated.
Now all of your songs are in Estonian, have you ever thought of singing in a language other than Estonian?
As Kruuv is all about Estonian way of live, we can only sing in Estonian. However there is a little line in Spanish on our third album 🙂
One of your band members plays the Bag Pipes, you must be one of the few bands in Estonia to include the Bag Pipes in your music?
Bagpipes are actually really common in Estonian folk bands.
Your song is called “Tiiu talu tütreke”, can you tell us what it is about?
In Estonian folklore there is a young girl called Tiiu. She is very talented and will grow intoexemplary Estonian woman. We however sing of her daughter who will instead drink beer, dance and enjoy life to the fullest.
What expectations do you have going into Eesti Laul?
We go with no expectations into Eesti Laul. We are happy if our listeners get a warm and happy feeling from our song. It´s a bonus if we get to represent Estonia on Eurovision.
