Ukraine: Press Conference

Ukraine Wont Be In Cologne
Mariya’s Press Conference Went Well!

Ukraine’s first press conference has finished, too and it went really well!

Mariya was asked how it felt to finally get underway with things, she replied:

I considered that it’s the beginning of the best time in my life because that stage is really amazing. I couldn’t even imagine it would be that good, it’s very beautiful.

Mariya was then asked if she was satisfied with her performance, she stated:

I’m never happy of how I work, so I have many, many questions and we have time to do it. And the main thing is that I felt the stage. I’m waiting for the moment when the people come.

Mariya added to this:

I would like to change some things; it’s about me and my feelings.

Mariya then told us about the staging:

I decided to use only one dancer because it’s the story of two people (dancer & myself) who are in love. They are against the time and the world and they only have each other. We wanted to create this story.

It was then speculated that apparently Mariya had second thoughts about participating – Mariya immediately cleared things up:

I didn’t change my decision because I’ve always wanted to take part, so I didn’t think about refusing it.

Mariya then got asked about her father’s inspiration on her. She replied:

Thank you, great question. My father has always inspired me. My addiction to music is a genetic gift from my father. He’s a legendary Ukrainian singer. He made me a singer. I’m always listening to his music.

Mariya was then asked about the pressure as Ukraine is always perfect at Eurovision, she calmly replied:

Thank you, thank you so much from Ukraine itself. It’s a great compliment to Ukraine. We love the music so much. From childhood, I remember singing and listening to music was the main hobby of us all. It’s our destiny doing well, the God plans it. It’s a very big responsibility. Last year was perfect and now it’s my time and I want to be worthy.

The presenter asked Mariya if she had watched any other performances; Mariya added:

I didn’t see the other performances, if I have a few minutes, I will look upon other performers. Like brothers and sisters we are.

Finally, Mariya was asked about the chemistry between her and her dancer, she replied:

Again, the destiny. Only it made it possible. When you have a chemistry between you and the dancer, you’re not afraid of the stage. It inspires you and gives you force. We immediately developed a chemistry!

Ukraine will perform 9th in the 1st semi-final with the song “Tick Tock”, sung by Mariya.
