Belgium are the last country today to finish their press conference and Axel seemed pleased.
Firstly, Axel was asked how he rehearsal went, in which he replied:
Rehearsal went well, thank you.
He was then asked about his trip over, the presenter stating it was his first time on a plane:
My first time on a plane was a roller coaster time. It’s easy for flying and I’m afraid for a little bit of the flight, but after a while, I loved it.
Axel was then questioned about the whole atmosphere, he stated:
Yeah, I think it’s a reaction and the staging’s amazing. It’s very positive for us. The energy’s positive. It’s wonderful, yeah.
Axel was then asked how it felt to represent his country, he said:
I’m very proud, my country support me and I’m very, very proud.
It was noted that Axel took part in a stage performance of the Hunch Back of Notre Dame and it was compared to Eurovision, Axel stated:
It was fun. But Eurovision is very different. Notre Dame was good. And now I’m on the professional stage of Eurovision.
Then Axel was questioned on the songwriting team, he replied:
It’s very great. The composer is a great composer. The composer and lyricist are both great, the lyricist composing ‘Me and My Guitar’.
Axel was then asked if he was specifically doing it for the Flemish audience:
It’s Belgium. I am from Belgium. I represent all of Belgium. With my participation, everyone in Belgium speak of Eurovision. I’m very proud with the Flemish audience, however. It’s my dream.
Then the message of the song was brought up:
It’s special. My special gift to all mothers. For all people have a friend, have a brother or sister. It’s a very important thing in life. I hope so that people are touched and I hope the best for me.
Then asked about the performance change, he simply said:
It’s the same performance from Eurosong.
Finally, when asked if he mother was attending Eurovision, Axel replied:
My mother is coming to Copenhagen. Yes. Next week, she is coming with my father. The support is important to me. I’ll do my best for the supporters.
Belgium and Axel will perform 10th in the 1st semi final on the 6th of May with the song “Mother”.
