DR has announced that the 47 year old Pernille Gaardbo will be in charge of the 2014 Eurovision preparations. Pernille has been with DR for 17 years and has spent the last 12 months in the Media department. DR’s Director General Maria Rørbye Ronn said:
With the selection of Pernille Gaardbo we have someone who has both the managerial experience required to perform a task of this magnitude, and the technical knowledge of such a large television production as the Eurovision Song Contest. With Pernille Gaardbo’s long experience in DR we have someone who is solidly equipped to take on the task.
Pernille went on to talk about her appointment, saying that:
Having to arrange the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark is the realization of the ultimate dream of one with my background. In DR we have never been more ready than now to take on such a task. We have worked systematically to optimise our production over the past few years, so we are fully geared to handle a production of the enormous magnitude of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a comprehensive task, which has both an event section and three great shows. So now we have put the right team of people who collectively cover the skills that are needed.
Other people appointed today are Entertainment Manager Jan Lagermand Lundme and Head of DR Events Søren Therkelsen. Jan will be in charge of content whilst Søren will be responsible for the relationship with partners.
