Just two days after being revealed as the Turkvizyon entrant from Uzbekistan, we caught up with Nilufar Usmonova to ask her a few questions about Turkvizyon, her career and much more. You can read the interview below:
May I start by saying congratulations on being chosen to represent Uzbekistan at Turkvizyon. How does it feel?
Thank you for your congrats! To be honest I just couldn’t even think that I would pass!!! Actually I was pretty nervous and I tried my best.
Turkvizyon is a brand new contest which has been compared to Eurovision, how do you think Uzbekistan will take to the contest?
I am sure that Uzbekistan is already proud that I have passed to the final! And also people fans are very very excited also and I have already been told that the important thing is I am already on the final so I shouldn’t bet upset if I won’t win! ))) but everyone is believing that I will win and wishing me lots if luck!
You are a big name in the Uzbek music scene, can you tell us about some of your previous work?
I have already 3 albums and the 4th is one the way! I will release it on new year eve! )) and I love Turkish music and songs and singers. With some singers already friends for a long time. Even sometimes I sing Turkish songs. And this 2014 I will give my first concert. And you may think why I haven’t given any concerts in 15 years! We’ll I will write it my self that I have three kids so I spent 10 years to build and give birth to my family! Kids) I have three boys
Now your mother is Yulduz Usmonova, one of the most famous Uzbek’s of the past 20 years. How much has her singing career influenced yours?
Well I can say that sometimes it helps and sometimes it really doesn’t help at all on the other way people want more effort from me more than other singers! So if you look at the other side of the thing is this helps me to improve my self and be more better.When I first started my career people used to show me with fingers saying she is embarrassing Usmonova she is not good as her mother! And my mum never helped me at all she didn’t give me A financial help she didn’t help with her friends or anything! I started with Taronasi records company and still working with them! So year by year those who didn’t believe in me started to like me my music my self and then slowly they became my fans and I know that this all I have thanks to Allah and thanks that I work working hard can do some magic )
You revealed to us that your song is called “Unutgin”, can you tell us more about it?
“Unitgin” it means forget me! This words were written by the true story. Words belong to Shuhrat Nuraliev. He told me a little story which broke my heart and I started to cry. The story begins like this:
A young boy and girl falls in love ( it’s shuhrats neighbors who lives next to him)
- They get married everything is great she becomes pregnant and it is twins!
- After she gives birth to the babies she dies and already 15 years past every Friday the husband goes to qabr he prays for her he cleans it he puts flowers!
- And he never got married the second time!
- So when Shuhrat saw him returning from her grave he asked how are you and from where you are returning he answered from his wife and that man told Shuhrat that every time she comes to him in his dreams and asking and begging and crying to leave her she asks him to go away that she is tired
This story really touched my heart! I write a lot and you understand it!
What plans do you have for your performance?
About plans I can’t tell it’s actually a little secret!
Have you listened to any of the songs from the other countries taking part and if so what do you think of them?
Yes I have listened and I want to say that almost all if the participants are really really good and they sing nice songs.
What would it mean to you for you to win the first ever Turkvizyon contest?
For me to win isn’t the first aim. To me it’s enough that I am participating and representing my country Uzbekistan this is already a victory and even a I will take some other place anyways I have proved that Uzbekistan is worth participating in this big project contest!
