The deadline for singers to apply to represent North Macedonia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 and for songs to be submitted has been extended.
MRT has extended the deadline for its national selection process for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 to June 10. Applications for both its artist and song selection had been due to close on May 29, ahead of artist auditions taking place on June 1. The new date for artist auditions has not been stated.
The rules for the artist selection are:
- Singers must be aged between 9 and 14 years old as of Junior Eurovision 2026
- All singers must be citizens or have the right to live in North Macedonia
- At the audition, singers must perform two songs for a committee
- In addition, singers must perform a short stage performance as part of their audition
- Applicants will be assessed on naturalness of expression, stage presence and complete artistic interpretation of compositions, as well as vocal capability.
For the song selection process, MRT is looking for songs that are at least 60% performed in Macedonian, which “are expected to carry a positive, emotional, inspirational or motivational message, with text and musical expression adapted to the age of the performer. The song should have a catchy melody, a strong and recognizable chorus, a modern production approach and room for authentic vocal and stage interpretation.”
Full details of the selection process and rules can be found here. North Macedonia was represented at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 by Nela Mančeska with the song “Miracle”, placing 7th with 141 points on the night of the Final.

North Macedonia was one of 16 countries to take part in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. Marija & Viktorija on the country’s debut with the song “Ti ne me poznavaš”, finishing 12th with 19 points. North Macedonia’s best result to date is 5th place, which they achieved in 2007 with “Ding Ding Dong” by Rosica & Dimitar and in 2008 with “Prati mi SMS” by Bobi Andonov.
