🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Eurovision 1968 Representative Sophie Garel Has Died

Sophie Garel, who represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest 1968, has died at the age of 1984.

Sophie Garel, who was best known as a radio and television presenter, has died at the age of 84. Sophie was born in 1942 in Oran in Algeria and started her career at the age of 18 for a broadcaster based in the city, before moving in 1962 to working for Télé Monte Carlo. In 1967, her career took her to RTL, which in 1968 would select the presenter to represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest alongside Chris Baldo.

At the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest in London, she would perform ” Nous vivrons d’amour”, where she and Chris would place 11th, scoring 5 points. After her appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest, she would go on to be the face and voice of television across a number of TV and radio channels in France and Luxembourg, with her last big appearance coming in 2021, marking 100 years of radio in France.
