We had the pleasure of speaking to this year’s Moldovan Eurovision representative, Satoshi, ahead of their appearance at the Eurovision In Concert pre-party in Amsterdam.
Speaking to Tamara at the Eurovision In Concert press event this afternoon, Moldova’s Satoshi spoke about the cultural elements of his song “Viva, Moldova!”, his feelings behind opening the first semi-final, and how he feels about singing in his own language.

Who is Satoshi?
Vlad Sabajuc, better known as Satoshi, was born on September 13 1998 in Cahul in southern Moldova. He began composing music while in school and taught himself to play the drums. He later went on to study at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău.

Moldova debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 when the contest was held in Kyiv. Moldova’s best result in the contest is 3rd place in 2017 for Sunstroke Project with “Hey Mamma!”. This was the second time the group had represented their country in Eurovision. Moldova has been represented by several artists who have competed in the contest before, with five acts having represented Moldova a combined eleven times. After a one-year hiatus in 2025, Moldova has come back to the competition in 2026.
