Monroe has given her first live performance of “Regarde !” the French entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
The first live performance of France’s entry for the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest has taken place. Monroe performed “Regarde !” on C à vous on France 5 this evening.
Monroe was born in Utah in the United States to a French mother and an American father. She rose to prominence in 2024 after winning the France 2 talent show Prodiges, where she made an instant impression on audiences with her operatic voice. Following her Prodiges victory, she released her debut album and is set to go on tour across France this spring. Her song was written and composed by Fred Savio, Fredie Marche and Violin Phonix.
Monroe will compete in the Grand Final in May 16. In addition, she will also perform during the second semi-final on May 14.
France was one of seven countries to participate in the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Since then, they have participated in every contest except 1974 and 1982. Their withdrawal in 1974 was caused by the death of President Georges Pompidou, while their withdrawal in 1982 was a result of TF1 declining to enter the contest. France has won the contest on five occasions, most recently in 1977, when Marie Myriam performed “L’oiseau et l’enfant”. France’s best result of the 21st century came in 2021, when Barbara Pravi finished second in Rotterdam with “Voilà”.
