๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Finland: Yle Announces UMK 2026 Reveal Show Format & More Details of the Participants

The Finnish broadcaster has more details of the UMK 2026 Participants Reveal Show, which will take place on January 14.

With two days to go, Yle has revealed more details of how the artists competing in UMK 2026 will be revealed. The reveal show, which will be broadcast live on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena from 18:30 CET, will be hosted by Jasmin Beloued, who will be joined by Eva Frantz, BESS, Samuli Vรครคnรคnen and DJ Orkidea (Tapio Hakanen).

Joining the live studio audience of 300 fans is commentator Mikko Silvennoinen and radio presenter Katri Norrlin. Mikko will interview the seven acts being announced, while Katri will chat with the audience. Due to international interest, English language commentary of the show will be provided on Yle Areena by Jaakko Oleander.

The show will last 1 hour and will not only reveal the seven competing acts, but will also discuss more about UMK 2026 and what viewers can expect from the final on February 28.

Professional jury chair Tapio Hakanen has also revealed more about the seven acts that will compete to represent Finland in Vienna:

This seasonโ€™s artist and song lineup includes a charismatic performer making their debut release at UMK, an artist representing a very current sound, an internationally in-demand crowd-pleaser, a pioneer of their genre, a compelling duo of two distinctive performers, a dramatic pop track by a stunning vocalist, and a striking ballad from an internationally oriented artist

The hints from Tapio come as Yle revealed the sixth image hinting at one of the participants:

Each competing entry, along with a music video, will be released individually from January 15 to 23. A total of 491 songs were submitted for UMK 2026, which marks a record number of submissions.

UMK 2026 will take place on February 28 in Nokia Arena in Tampere. The winner will represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Austria.

Erika Vikman represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with โ€œIch kommeโ€. Finland finished 11th in the final scoring 196 points. Finland received 12 points from the Austrian jury and received 10 points from the public in Sweden, Australia and Estonia.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961. They debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received โ€˜nul pointsโ€™ three times. It wasnโ€™t until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song โ€œHard Rock Hallelujahโ€ scoring 292 points, a record total at the time.
