A revamp of “Motanka”, the Ukrainian entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025, has been released.
A revamp of “Motanka” has been released ahead of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Tbilisi. The revamp was premiered yesterday on Radio Promin before being released on streaming platforms today as part of the official Junior Eurovision 2025 album.
As part of its premiere, Svitlana Tarabarova, the songwriter of “Motanka”, and Sofia Neresesian, the Ukrainian representative for Junior Eurovision 2025, appeared on Radio Promin to talk about the revamp. Tarabarova explained that the revamp has no major musical changes but more English lyrics were added at Sofia’s request.
“I will share that at first there were no English lyrics in ‘Motanka’, because I wanted people to hear the Ukrainian message. Sofia loves the English language very much, and she personally asked for an English-language chorus in the song. In the updated version, it is heard in the first part of the song, so that people from all over Europe, who understand English faster, hear this main message.”
Sofia also commented that while she is very busy with preparations for Junior Eurovision 2025, she is not stressed.
“It’s not difficult for me at all, because when I work, I really get a high from it. For me, it’s like resting.”

Ukraine in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Ukraine debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and has competed in the contest ever since. To date, Ukraine has only won the competition once. In 2012, Anastasiya Petryk won in Amsterdam with the song “Nebo”. She scored 138 points, including eight sets of 12 points. Ukraine has hosted the contest twice, the first time in 2009 and the second in 2013 following their victory in Amsterdam.
