๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukraine: Who Is Sofia Nersesian?

The fifth artist in our Who Is series for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is Sofia Neresesian from Ukraine.

Sofia Neresesian is 10 years old and comes from Kyiv. She is of Armenian descent. She is a volunteer and has given over 400 charity concerts. Last year, she was longlisted for the Ukrainian selection for Junior Eurovision 2024. She made it to the top 10 before being eliminated.

Sofia was selected to represent Ukraine at Junior Eurovision 2025 after winning the Ukrainian national selection. She finished second in the jury vote and won the public vote.

The song that Sofiia will perform in Tbilisi is called โ€œMotankaโ€ (Rag doll). It was written and composed by Svitlana Tarabarova, who has composed every Ukrainian Junior Eurovision entry since 2023. Motanka is Ukrainian rag doll that was used an amulet in ancient times.

Sofia will perform in slot number 6 in the final of Junior Eurovision 2025.

Ukraine in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Ukraine debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and has competed in the contest ever since. To date, Ukraine has only won the competition once. In 2012, Anastasiya Petryk won in Amsterdam with the song โ€œNeboโ€. She scored 138 points, including eight sets of 12 points. Ukraine has hosted the contest twice, the first time in 2009 and the second in 2013 following their victory in Amsterdam.
