The Nordic Council has awarded funds to support Pan-ArcticVision 2025 as part of the organisations support for cultural activities.
Pan-ArcticVision 2025 is one of twenty-one projects that have received a slice of 8.8 million DKK (1.179 million Euro) to support for activities across the Nordic region. The Nordic Arctic Programme 2025-2027 is an initiative by the Nordic Council which supports civil societies, sustainable economic growth, and green transitions.
The third edition of Pan-ArcticVision will be held on October 18 in Iqaluit, Nunavut. A call for entries was held earlier this year, with the below territories eligible to participate alongside local partner organisations:
- Alaska (USA) – Anchorage Museum
- Faroe Islands – Norðurlandahúsið
- Greenland – Katuaq Culture Centre
- Nord Norge – Norway
- Norra Sverige – Sweden – Bd Pop Norrbotten
- Nunavut (Canada) – Alianait Arts Festival
- Sápmi – Finland/Norway/Sweden
- Yukon & Northwest Territories (Canada)
To date one participant has been announced with Shauna Seeteenak due to represent the host region of Nunavut.
Pan-ArcticVision is loosely based on the Eurovision Song Contest and was first held in 2023. The contest aims to bring together the peoples of the Arctic. All of the artists competing in the contest were chosen by cultural organisations across the Arctic.
Three categories are awarded prizes in each edition:
- The most Arctic song
- The song that gives the most feeling of community and togetherness
- The most revolutionary song
