RTÉ, the Irish broadcaster, has confirmed it has requested a breakdown of its televoting numbers from the European Broadcasting Union.
The Irish broadcaster, RTÉ, is the latest national broadcaster to confirm it has requested the details of its voting numbers at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. A spokesperson for RTÉ informed the Irish Independent that:
“RTÉ has requested a breakdown in voting numbers from the EBU and its voting partner Once. RTÉ looks forward to participating in the discussions and review”
Ireland is the seventh country to raise questions with the European Broadcasting Union following the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.
RTVE of Spain, VRT of Belgium, RÚV of Iceland and Yle of Finland, have all raised questions regarding the voting at the contest. RTVSLO of Slovenia has called for a debate on whether Israel should still be allowed to compete. While AVROTROS and NPO in the Netherlands has raised queries regarding the current state of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Prior to the Eurovision Song Contest the European Broadcasting Union has committed to a ‘wider discussion’ regarding Israel’s participation in the contest.

Ireland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 and is the joint most successful country to have participated in the contest, winning a total of seven times. During the 1990s, Ireland was a powerhouse in the contest, becoming the first country to win three years in a row from 1992 to 1994. In the 2000s, Ireland struggled in the contest, having qualified from the semi-final just 7 out of a possible 19 times. In 2024, Bambie Thug gave Ireland their best result since 2000, finishing in 6th place.
