The new Semi-Final qualifiers announcement might have been revealed by the Swiss broadcaster SRF.
During the documentary “Der Weg zum ESC 2025”, the Swiss broadcaster has allegedly revealed the new Eurovision semi-final qualifiers announcement format. As ESC Discord reports, the script shown during the documentary reveals that three countries will be highlighted at a time, with one of these being announced as a qualifier.
Changes to the way in which the Semi-Final qualifiers will be announced were already teased, with the Executive Producers of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, Reto Peritz and Mortiz Stadler, anticipating the matter to The Euro Trip Podcast. According to them, the announcement brings “more emotions and more excitement to the show”.
Changes to the way in which the qualifiers from the Semi-Finals were last tested in 2023 at the contest in Liverpool. The change, which was tested in the rehearsals in Liverpool, saw all participants join the hosts on stage for the announcement of the qualifiers, much like what is seen on shows such as The X Factor.
The changes will be trialled during the Dress Rehearsals for Semi-Final One which will take place on May 12.

The 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Basel on May 13, 15, and 17, 2025.

Since Martin Osterdahl took over, the EBU hasn’t made a SINGLE good decision. Not one. Not one. Not even removing the juries in the semifinals (there are more and more joke entries), nor the treatment of the press, nor the rest of the world (it contributes nothing and the same people always win), and a long etcetera. Why change one of the few things that NO ONE has asked to change? Why do we have to make the two who don’t go through this?
