The European Broadcasting Union marked 75 years since its creation this week with an event in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
On March 19, the European Broadcasting Union which organised the Eurovision Song Contest marked 75 years since its creation. The Union which was created in February 1950, now has 112 member organisations across 54 countries.
The alliance of public service media is best known to the public for its Eurovision events and competitions. The Eurovision Song Contest is its best-known competition, with other contests including Junior Eurovision, Eurovision Young Musicians and Let the People’s Sing.
Helping to mark 75 years of the European Broadcasting were two artists who are well known to fans of the competition. Gustaph who represented Belgium at Eurovision 2023 with “Because of You” opened the event, while Mahmood who represented Italy in 2019 and 2023 performed as the main act.
Among the other guest speakers were the Director General of the EBU, Noel Curran and Delphine Ernotte Cunci the President of France Télévisions.
