The finalists in the Irish national selection for the Pan Celtic Song Contest 2024 have been announced.
With two weeks to go to the final, the acts hoping to represent Ireland at the Pan Celtic Song Contest 2024 have been announced. More than 30 songs were entered into the Irish selection with 14 new Irish language songs set to compete in the final on January 27.
The finalists and competing entries are:
- Diane Canon – “Ag feitheamh ar an ghrian”
- Seosamh Mac Donncha – “Mise mé fhéin”
- Damian and Cairde – “Damian and Cairde”
- Aileen Treanor – “A chuid cachnaimh in a pheann”
- Brí and Cairde – “Táim anseo”
- Caitríona – “An ghaoth”
- Niamh – “Tar aníos”
- enCÓRe – “Thuas seal, thíos seal”
- Sheona – “Cá bhfuil mé?”
- Oisín and Cairde – “Anois is gach aon lá”
- Éabha – “Na pictiúir ar an mballa”
- Éanna and Burnchurch – “Maidin”
- Sharon – “Mo sheanmháthair”
- Mairéad – “Rudaí milse”
The winner of the Pan Celtic National Song Contest 2024 will be selected by a jury formed of:
- Órla Fallon
- Tadhg Ó Grifín
- Niamh de Búrca
The winner will be awarded a prize of €1,000, and represent Ireland at the Pan Celtic Song Contest 2024 between April 2 and 4.
What is the Pan Celtic Song Contest?
The Pan Celtic Song Contest has been held annually since 1971 and is part of the Pan Celtic Festival. The aim of the contest is to promote modern Celtic languages and cultures from the six Celtic nations of:
- Brittany
- Cornwall
- Ireland
- Isle of Man
- Scotland
- Wales
Wales is the most successful nation at the competition having won the event a total of 15 times. In contrast, the Isle of Man has won the event only once in 2014.
