NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster, has revealed that the grand final of Melodi Grand Prix 2024 will take place on February 3.
Melodi Grand Prix 2024 will consist of three semi-finals and a grand final. The semi-finals will take place in NRK Studios in Marienlyst in Oslo on January 13, 20 and 27. A total of eighteen artists will compete over the semi-finals, with three advancing from each one to the final. The NRK Studios were the venue of the very first edition of Melodi Grand Prix in 1960. Stig Karlsen, Head of Delegation for Norway and head producer of Melodi Grand Prix, explained:
“We are very excited about the line-up in MGP. We can promise a very high level of artists and songs. There will be big and well-known artists, there will be new shooting stars, a wide selection of genres and expressions. We have the songs that can assert themselves strongly in Europe and the world. And who knows, maybe 2024 will be the year when Norway wins the Eurovision Song Contest again!”
The final will take place for the second year in a row in Trondheim Spektrum on February 3. Stig Karlsen explained the choice of host city:
“Trรธndelag can throw a party, and together with visitors from all over Norway and Europe, this will be an evening for the history books. There is great excitement about which artists are included in MGP 2024, and although we cannot share any names now, we can reveal that Trรธndelag is well represented among the 18 participating artists. It will be exciting to see how many go on, and get to perform on home turf in Trondheim Spektrum.”
The competing artists will be revealed during a press conference at NRK headquarters on January 5. Tickets for all four live shows will go on general sale on November 16, with a pre-sale on November 14.
