Almost 300 songs have been submitted for the chance to represent the Netherlands in Eurovision 2024 in Malmö.
Submissions to represent the Netherlands in Eurovision 2024 opened on July 12 and closed this Saturday. Twan Van De Niuewenhujzen. Head of Delegation for the Netherlands and head of the Dutch selection committee, revealed that almost 300 songs have been submitted to the selection.
The Netherlands will once again choose their song through an internal selection, which they have done every year since 2013. All of the songs will be reviewed by a selection committee, which this year includes new members Jacqueline Govaert and Jaap Reesema. The final decision is set to be made in mid-December.
Mia Nicholai and Dion Cooper represented the Netherlands in Eurovision 2023 with the song “Burning Daylight”. They competed in Semi-Final One but did not manage to qualify to the Grand Final, making it the first Dutch non-qualification since 2015.

The Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest
The Netherlands debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has gone on to compete in all bar four contests. To date the Netherlands has won the contest on five occasions; 1957, 1959, 1969, 1975 and most recently 2019. Prior to Duncan Laurence’s victory in Tel Aviv, the Netherlands had been waiting 44 years for their next victory. Duncan Laurence won the contest in Israel with the song “Arcade”.
