The Danish national broadcaster, DR, has opened submissions for the 2024 edition of the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, DMGP.
Denmark will once again use DMGP to select their Eurovision entry, with submissions now open for the 2024 edition; where the winner will fly the Danish flag at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmรถ, next May. The broadcaster hopes the winning DMGP 2024 song has the potential to represent Danish music and Danish culture at Eurovision.
The submission window for the upcoming DMGP will close later this year on October 27th at 12:00.ย A total of eight songs will be selected to compete in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2023 from public submissions and submissions from the Danish music industry. Some of the rules of DMGP are listed below:
- At least one person out of the composer(s), lyricist(s) or performing artist(s) must be a Danish citizen or have a strong connection to Denmark eg. residence in Denmark, marriage to a Danish citizen etc.
- Residents of the Faroe Islands and Greenland who are on the local population register may also compete.
- Songs must be no longer than 3 minutes and must be original compositions.
- Songs must only submitted online through the official DR website.
- There is no language restriction for entries. In case of a language change request for the winning entry, the artist must agree with DR on what language the song will be performed in at Eurovision 2023.
- Before the full list of participants and entries are revealed by DR, no one is allowed to reveal any part of the list.
- Songs must not have been released or performed publicly before the competition. In case a song has been performed or released publicly, DR will decide whether or not the song has gained an unfair advantage in the competition and if the song is still eligible to participate.
