Reflecting on Eurovision 2021, Vincent Bueno has ruled out any further participation in contests.
Vincent Bueno who represented Austria at Eurovision 2021 has stated he has no plans to take part in any more competitions, following his Eurovision appearance. Vincent spoke to Meinberzik.at and revealed that:
You only had 15 seconds to go on stage. Shortly before my performance, I was overwhelmed by my feelings. I was so emotionally charged at that moment that I almost got a crying fit. My whole life has played out in front of my eyes.
Reflecting on the contest and looking to the future, Vincent added:
That was my last participation in a contest. I don’t want to be judged anymore,
Vincent Bueno performed “Amen” for Austria at Eurovision 2021, he finished 12th in Semi-Final Two scoring a total of 66 points. This is the second consecutive contest Austria has failed to qualify for the final in.
Who is Vincent Bueno?
Vincent Bueno is a 34-year old singer-songwriter from Vienna and is of Filipino descent. He first came to public attention after winning the first series of the ORF musical theatre talent show Musical! Die Show in 2008. He previously attempted to represent Austria in 2016 with “All We Need is That Love”, which finished sixth in the Austrian national final. In 2017, he was a backing vocalist for Nathan Trent at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv.

Austria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957, Bob Martin represented the country on their debut, but finished in the last place scoring just 3 points. The country has gone on to finish last in the contest on 8 occasions. Austria has won the contest on two occasions, the first being in 1966 when Udo Jürgen performed “Merci, Cherie”. It was 48 years later that Austria won again when Conchita Wurst performed “Rise Like a Phoenix” scoring a total of 290 points.
