The Dutch Government’s decision on whether an audience will be permitted for Eurovision 2021 has been delayed.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science (OCW) has delayed a meeting that would have determined whether an audience would be able to attend the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. RTL reports that the meeting which was scheduled for this afternoon will now likely take place tomorrow.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 is being held as a Fieldlab Event. a program created to develop safe re-opening strategies for the Dutch entertainment sector. According to a guideline of the Dutch government, the testing done by Fieldlab Events cannot go ahead if the number of patients in intensive care units is above 900. The figure as of today stands at 814 persons in intensive care.
If the circumstances permit it the Ahoy Arena will be opened for 3500 visitors. Bakker also added that this could be a way to open up The Netherlands a little and at the same time it can be seen as a reminder that the pandemic is still not over.
Eurovision 2021
The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place on May 18, 20, and 22 in Rotterdam. A total of 39 countries will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Eurovision 2020 was due to be held in Rotterdam after Duncan Laurence gave the Netherlands their first victory since 1975 with the song “Arcade”. After the cancelation of the 2020 contest, it was decided that Rotterdam would host the 2021 contest instead.
