The Opening Ceremony for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 is set to take place at the Rotterdam Cruise Terminal and feature a Turquoise Carpet.
The Rotterdam Cruise Terminal will host this year’s Opening Ceremony for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. The Delegations traveling to Rotterdam will be transported to The Cruise Terminal via boat before walking the Turquoise Carpet.
The Cruise Terminal is located at Wilhelminapier and served Holland America Line. The Cruise Terminal was also due to be used as the location of the Opening Ceremony of the canceled Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with a Gold Carpe.
Last year Jelmar van der Wel of the Cruise Terminal commented:
It is a beautiful place with a unique view and it has many special stories. Of course an arrival place for international visitors to the city and in addition, legendary events have been organized for years. We are going to make it a spectacular opening, which will do our beautiful city justice.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on May 16 and will be broadcast online by Eurovision.tv
The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place on May 18, 20, and 22 in Rotterdam. A total of 39 countries will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Eurovision 2020 was due to be held in Rotterdam after Duncan Laurence gave the Netherlands their first victory since 1975 with the song “Arcade”. After the cancelation of the 2020 contest, it was decided that Rotterdam would host the 2021 contest instead.
