It has been announced ahead of the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 that Spain’s Head of Delegation, Ana María Bordas will be joining the steering group for the contest.
This news has been confirmed by the EBU as Ana joins the following members of the steering group:
- Ekaterina Orlova (RTR)
- Olga Salamakha (BTRC)
- Marta Piekarska (TVP)
- Alexandra Redde (France TV)
- Carla Bugalho (RTP)
- Anja Zegwaard (AVROTROS)
- Natia Mshvenieradze (GPB)
- Martin Österdahl (EBU)
In the build up to the contest, set to be held in France in November, the steering group will supervise preparation for the contest as well as approving all decisions and changes to ensure that the contest can take place this year.
Spain originally participated in the inaugural 2003 contest through to 2006. After a long break they returned in 2019. For the last two years since their return, they have finished the contest in third place on both occasions. Most recently they finished third with “Palante” performed by Soleá.
Junior Eurovision 2021
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will be held in France, who earned the right to host it after Valentina and her song “J’imagine” won the previous year in Poland , with an amount of 200 points. Currently, the following countries have confirmed their participation:
- France
- Georgia
- Germany
- Ireland
- The Netherlands
- Russia
- Spain

Spain first took part in the contest in 2003 and participated every year between then and 2006. In 2004, María Isabel brought Spain their only victory so far with “Antes muerta que sencilla”. After an absence of 13 years, Spain returned to the contest last year with “Marte” by Melani García. Spain have finished in the top 5 in all 6 of their attempts.
