The twenty-seventh artist to feature in our Who Is series for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest is Vincent Bueno from Austria.

Vincent Bueno was born on December 10 1985 in Vienna to Filipino parents. He first came to public attention after winning the first series of the ORF musical theatre talent show Musical! Die Show in 2008. In 2010, he made regular appearances on the Philippine variety show ASAP VX. He has released two English studio albums; “Step by Step” (2009) and “Invincible” (2018) and one German album; “Weider Leben” (Back to Life – 2016). He also released an EP in the Philippines in 2010 called “The Austrian Idol – Vincent Bueno”.

Vincent previously attempted to represent Austria in 2016 with “All We Need is That Love”, which finished sixth in the Austrian national final. In 2017, he was a backing vocalist for Nathan Trent at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv.

In 2020, he was selected to represent Austria at the contest in Rotterdam with “Alive”.

Following the cancellation of the contest, Austrian broadcaster ORF revealed that Vincent would sing for the country at the 2021 contest. He will sing “Amen” in the first half of the second semi-final on May 16th.

Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest

Austria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957, Bob Martin represented the country on their debut, but finished in last place scoring just 3 points. The country has gone on to finish last in the contest on 8 occasions. Austria has won the contest on two occasions, the first being in 1966 when Udo Jürgen performed “Merci, Cherie”. It was 48 years later that Austria won again when Conchita Wurst performed “Rise Like a Phoenix” scoring a total of 290 points.
