🇳🇴 Norway: 668,000 Viewers For Melodi Grand Prix 2021 Semi-Final Three

A total of 668,000 viewers watched the third semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix live on Saturday evening.

The third semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021 saw a total of 668,000 viewers watching the contest on NRK. 21,000 views came from online platforms while the remaining 647,000 viewers watched the show on NRK1. Overall the show had a viewer share rating of 47,4 % for its given timeslot.

Last week 717,000 Viewers turned in for the second semi-final of MGP2021, while 784,000 watched the inaugural heat.  Overall 49,000 fewer viewers tuned in to the third semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix than last week’s show and this weeks number represent a drop of 116,000 views from the opening show. However, compared to MGP2020 third semi-final viewing figures are still higher than last year opening heat.

Emmy won the second semi-final of the contest with the song “Witch Woods”. The singer had been the favourite to make it through to the final with the bookmakers going into the show.

Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
