A total of 592,000 viewers followed the first Semi-Final of Melodi Grand Prix 2020, with the show topping its time slot.
44% of the viewing audience followed Semi-Final One of Melodi Grand Prix 2020 on Saturday evening. NRK recorded a viewing audience of 592,000 viewers for the competition over 130,000 viewers ahead of the second highest rating show in the time slot on TV2.
The ratings are up on the last time that Melodi Grand Prix held semi-finals in 2014. Overall NRK is pleased with the results of the show with Stig Karlsen telling ESC Norge:

Raylee won Semi-Final One with the song “Wild” and will be representing Southern Norway at the Grand Final on February 15.

Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
