Germany has confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2020, as the search begins for ‘Eurovision Jury’ members for next years selection.
Germany is the first of the Big Five nations to confirm their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The German broadcaster is already beginning work on their selection process for next years competition.
Simon-Kucher & Partners have made an open call for German Eurovision fans to apply to be part of the 100 member ‘Eurovision Jury’. The Eurovision Jury was introduced in 2018 as part of a revamp to the German selection process. The jury will help to determine the singers who will make it through to the German selection, as well as the act that will represent Germany in 2020.

Who are S!sters?
S!sters were selected to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in a tight voting sequence. Makeda was the favourite of the International Jury whereas Aly Ryan got top points from the Eurovision jury. Sisters took top points from the public vote and won on overall points.
S!ster were a late addition to the German selection process, with NDR having to work to find two singers who would fit the song. Carlotta Truman and Laurita had both applied to take part in the German selection in 2018 and 2019 and were brought together by the broadcaster to perform the song.
Carlotta Truman had applied as part of Carlotta & The Truman Show who placed 53rd out of 1,000 with the Eurovision jury. Carlotta was shortlisted as a potential back up singer, should an appropriate song be found
Laurita had applied alongside her sister and a friend as part of the group Diamonds. They finished second in the judging round of the 2018 selection beating Michael Schulte who eventually went on to represent Germany in Lisbon.

Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010, when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 236 points overall.
