NDR has revealed the guest performers who will be joining Barbara Schöneberger for the ESC Countdown on the Reeperbahn.
The guest performers for this years ESC Countdown from the Reeperbahn have been revealed. The show which is broadcast 45 minutes before the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, brings together acts to get the audience ready for the show in Tel Aviv.
The guest performers for this years show include last years German Eurovision entrant Michael Schulte as well as:
- Sarah Connor
- Stefanie Heinzmann
- Laing
- Annett Louisan und Nico Santos
The show will once again be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger, with Barbara expected to also be the spokesperson during the voting. NDR has not yet confirmed who the German spokesperson will be.
Once the final of the Eurovision Song Contest has finished, NDR will return to the Reeperbahn for ESC Grand Prix Party. The show will feature a live interview from Tel Aviv with S!sters who will give their first thoughts on the contest.
Who are S!sters?
S!sters were selected to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in a tight voting sequence. Makeda was the favourite of the International Jury whereas Aly Ryan got top points from the Eurovision jury. Sisters took top points from the public vote and won on overall points.
S!ster were a late addition to the German selection process, with NDR having to work to find two singers who would fit the song. Carlotta Truman and Laurita had both applied to take part in the German selection in 2018 and 2019 and were brought together by the broadcaster to perform the song.
Carlotta Truman had applied as part of Carlotta & The Truman Show who placed 53rd out of 1,000 with the Eurovision jury. Carlotta was shortlisted as a potential back up singer, should an appropriate song be found
Laurita had applied alongside her sister and a friend as part of the group Diamonds. They finished second in the judging round of the 2018 selection beating Michael Schulte who eventually went on to represent Germany in Lisbon.

Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010, when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 236 points overall.
