The BBC has revealed that Scott Mills is set to host a new weekly Eurovision Podcast available via BBC Sounds.
Scott Mills who has commentated at the Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Finals since 2011, is set to host a new podcast for the BBC. ‘Eurovision Calling’ will be hosted the Radio 1 host, and feature “special guests discuss the latest gossip and spill the secrets from behind the scenes of this year’s song competition.”
The first podcast went online today and will be released weekly in the run up to the Eurovision Song Contest. Scott will be joined weekly by Jade Adams as well as celebrity guests. The podcast is also inviting super fans to get in contact with the show @bbceurovision on Twitter.
Eurovision: You Decide, hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Måns Zelmerlöw, will be broadcast from Media City UK in Salford on Friday 8th February 2019. The expert panel, revealed yesterday, will play an important role this year as they will determine which three acts and version of each song will go forward to face the public vote. There are six artists competing in the UK national final, each with their own version of three different songs: “Bigger Than Us,” “Sweet Lies” and “Freaks.”
The members of the panel are:
- Rylan – former X Factor contest, TV presenter and commentator for the BBC in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals.
- Marvin Humes – radio DJ and producer who is best known for being part of the boy-band, JLS. Previously, his wife Rochelle Humes has formed part of the panel of You Decide.
- Mollie King – famous as part of girl-band The Saturdays, she has also been a contestant on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and is now a Radio 1 DJ.
After the panel have made thier decision in the “Song-Off,” the final three acts will then perform one more time before the voting lines are opened and the public chooses which song and artist will represent the UK at Eurovision in Tel Aviv in May.
The United Kingdom was represented by SuRie at the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. With her song “Storm”, she placed 24th in the Grand Final. “Storm” entered the Official Singles Charts in the United Kingdom at No.50, becoming the highest charting entry from the nation in four years.

The United Kingdom debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and holds the record for the most consecutive appearances in the contest. To date the UK has won the contest a total of five times, with their first victory coming in 1967 and their latest in 1997. The UK holds the record for the most second place finishes in the contest, having been runner-up a total of 15 times. Since 2000 the UK has finished within the top 10 only twice, this being in 2002 with Jessica Garlick and in 2009 with Jade Ewen.
