Tonight: Melodifestivalen Begins – Seven Countries Continue Their Eurovision Search

Tonight sees the first Semi-Final of Melodifestivalen 2019, while seven other nations across Europe continue their search for Eurovision 2019.

The breakdown of selections and start times for the selections today and this evening:

  • 11:00 CET – Moldova – O Melodie Pentru Europa – Auditions
  • 18:00 CET – Estonia – Eesti Laul – Semi-Final Two
  • 19:00 CET – Georgia – Georgian Idol – Show Five
  • 19:30 CET – Hungary – A Dal – Heat Three
  • 20:00 CET – Lithuania – Eurovizijos Atranka – Show Four
  • 20:00 CET – Sweden – Melodifestivalen – Semi-Final One
  • 20:15 CET – Israel – HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion 2019 – Show Thirty
  • 20:25 CET – Latvia – Supernova – Semi-Final Two

Moldova – O Melodie Pentru Europa – Auditions – 11:00 CET

Ahead of the selections taking place in seven nations tonight, Moldova will be holding the live auditions round for O Melodie Pentru Europa. Tele-radio Moldova will be streaming the auditions live from 11:00 CET and you can follow them live at TRM.md.

The participants will be assessed by a jury who will scoring the performances from 0 to 12 points based on; the melodic line, the originality of the song, the vocal performance, and their interpretation of their song.

Estonia – Eesti Laul – Semi-Final Two – 18:00 CET

Estonia’s search for Eurovision 2019 continues this evening in Tartu with the second semi-final of Eesti Laul.

Tonight is the second semi-final of Eesti Laul, with the competition travelling outside of Tallinn for the first time. The University of Tartu is playing host to the two semi-finals this evening with twelve artists taking to the stage.

The running order is as follows:

  1. Synne Valtri – “I’ll Do It My Way”
  2. Characters – “Two Minuses”
  3. Snow color ft. INGA – “Which Day”
  4. Sissi – “Strong”
  5. Cätlin Mägi & Jaan Pehk – “Parmum Game”
  6. Kadiah – “Believe”
  7. Kaia Tamm – “Wo sind die Katzen?”
  8. Kerli Stone – “Cold Love”
  9. Grete Paia – “Even if I lose”
  10. Lacy Jay – “Hallelujah”
  11. Around The Sun – Follow Me Back
  12. Uku Summer – “Pretty Little Liar”

Six artists will be selected to qualify for the Grand Final on the 16th of February. The qualifiers will be selected by 50% public televote and 50% jury voting.

Georgia – Georgian Idol Show Five – 19:00 CET

The second live show of Georgian Idol takes place this evening in Tbilisi, with eight artists taking to the stage. It is up to the public once again to select the singers who will make it through to next weeks show and get one step closer to representing Georgia in Israel. The eight artists who are taking to the stage tonight are:

  • Liza Kalandadze
  • Nini Tsnobiladze
  • Giorgi Pruidze

Hungary – A Dal Heat Three – 19:30 CET

Hungary continue their Eurovision selection tonight with the second heat of A Dal 2019. Ten artists will perform in the hopes of qualifying to the Semi-Finals. Performing tonight are:

  • Joci Pápai – Az én apám
  • Kyra – Maradj még
  • Leander Kills – Hazavágyom
  • Mocsok 1 Kölykök – Egyszer
  • Monyo Project – Run Baby Run
  • Petruska – Help Me Out Of Here

  • Salvus – Barát
  • USNK – Posztolj

Returning as host this year is Freddie, who represented Hungary at the 2016 contest. Joining him will be singer Bogi Dallos. Miklós Both and Misi Mező will return as jury members while Lilla Vincze and Feró Nagy will join the jury.

Lithuania – Eurovizijos Nacionaline Atranka Heat Four – 20:00 CET

Hosted by Gabriele Martirosianaite and Giedrius Masalskis, the third heat of Lithuania’s national final Eurovizijos Nacionaline Atranka 2019 will be broadcast tonight from 20:00 CET. The show will feature eleven artists, who will be judged by a panel consisting of Ramūnas Zilnys, Vilius Alesius, and Jurga Šeduikytė.

The jury results from the show are already known, the results were:

Sweden – Melodifestivalen Semi-Final One – 20:00 CET

Melodifestivalen begins tonight live from the Scandinavium Arena in Gothenburg, with the first seven acts taking to the stage.

The first semi-final features Anna Bergendahl, who represented Sweden at Eurovision 2010 but failed to qualify for the final. As well as Nano who finished second in Melodifestivalen 2019 after finishing second in the jury voting.

The seven artists who are competing for two places direct to the final and two places in Andra Chansen are;

  1. Nano – Chasing Rivers
  2. High 15 – No Drama
  3. Wiktoria – Not with Me
  4. Zeana feat. Anis don Demina – Mina bränder
  5. Arja Saijonmaa – Mina fyra årstider
  6. Mohombi – Hello

Israel – HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion – Show 30 – 20:15 CET

Eight acts remain as the Israeli national selection enters its final two weeks of shows.

HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion 2019 has now entered the quarterfinal stages. In this round the eight acts will be paired in to four duels. The performer with the highest score at the end of each duel will progress. The two acts who end up with the lowest scores will be eliminated from the contest.

The eight acts who are competing to represent Israel on home soil in Tel Aviv are:

  • Ketreyah
  • Ofri Calfon
  • Shefita
  • Tai
  • Daniel Barzilai
  • Maya Buskila
  • Shalva Band
  • Avraham de Carvalho

Latvia – Supernova Semi-Final Two – 20:25 CET

Latvia continues Eurovision selection tonight with the first Semi-Final of Supernova 2019. Eight artists will compete tonight for one of the four places in the final that are left.

The artists taking to the stage tonight are:

  • Adriana Miglane – Scared of Love
  • Markus Riva – You Make Me So Crazy
  • Dziļi Violets feat. Kozmens – Tautasdziesma
  • Laika Upe – Listen to the Way that I Breater
  • Double Faced Eels – Fire
  • Kristiāna – Remedy
  • Peress – Smaragdi un pelni
  • Carousel – That Night

The qualifiers this evening will be selected by a combination of 50% televoting and 50% jury voting. On the jury are:

  • DJ Rudd – Latvian Radio 5 Editor
  • Linda Leen – Singer and former selection participant
  • Ralfs Eilands – Represented Latvia at Eurovision 2013 as part of PeR
  • Artis Dvarionas – Radio SWH program producer and musician
