Czech Republic: “Friend of A Friend” Picks Up Two More Sets of 12 Points

Lake Malawi and their song “Friend of a Friend” has scored the final two available sets of 12 points from the international jurors in Eurovision Song CZ 2019.

Ryan O’Shaugnessy and JOWST are the last two international jury members to reveal the acts that have received their 12 points in Eurovision Song CZ 2019. The results come after Ceska Televize has revealed the 12 points of each of the jury members over the course of the past week.

After all the jurors have voted, the 12 points of each of the juries puts Lake Malawi in the lead with 48 points:

The full results of the international jury and the public vote will be revealed tomorrow at a press conference from 14:30 CET. Once the results have been revealed the act representing the Czech Republic in Israel will be revealed.

Mikolas Josef was selected to represent the Czech Republic in Lisbon, Portugal after winning Eurovision Song CZ, the first Czech national selection since the country’s return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. He performed the song “Lie to Me” and finished 6th in the final with 281 points. This was only the Czech Republic’s second final appearance and their best finish ever in the contest.

The Czech Republic debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with the band Kabát and the song “Malá dáma”, they finished last in the semi-final scoring just 1 point from Estonia. The country went on to participate for a further two years before withdrawing from the contest after the 2009 edition in Moscow where Gipsy.cz scored nul points. In 2016 the Czech Republic qualified for their first final, Gabriela Gunčíková finished 25th in the final with the song “I Stand”.
