Famous Oberogo has won the tenth edition of Operación Triunfo and the grand prize of €100,000.

The final gala of Operación Triunfo took place last night in Terrassa, just outside Barcelona. The guest performers for the evening were David Otero and Rozalén, Pablo Alborán and Amaia Romero, who won last year’s Operación Triunfo and who represented Spain alongside Alfred García in Lisbon this year.

The final was split into two rounds. In the first round, the five finalists performed one song each, after which the public could vote for their favourites. After the lines were closed, the two finalists with the fewest amount of votes were eliminated.

The first round performances were as follows:

  1. Alba Reche – “Creep” (Postmodern Jukebox)
  2. Famous – “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” (from the musical “Dreamgirls”)
  3. Julia – “Déjame ser” (Manuel Carrasco)
  4. Natalia – “Never Enough” (from the musical “The Greatest Showman”)
  5. Sabela – “Tris tras” (Marful)

Julia finished fifth with 10% of the vote while Sabela finished fourth with 12%.

In the second round, the three remaining finalists each sang the songs that they performed in Gala 0. The voting lines opened again after all three finalists had performed.

The second round performances (and results) were as follows:

  1. Alba Reche – “Dangerous Woman” (Ariana Grande) – 35% 2nd
  2. Famous – “Faith” (Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande) – 36% 1st
  3.  Natalia – “Crazy” (Gnarls Barkley) – 29% 3rd
Christmas Gala

Next week, on December 26, the Christmas Gala of Operación Triunfo will take place. The gala will feature the finalists of the last two editions of the show. The 2018 finalists will perform songs that they have sung during their time on the show but with the original artists. These songs are:

  • Julia and India Martínez – “90 minutos”
  • Alba Reche and Zaz – “Je veux”
  • Natalia and Beret – “Lo siento”
  • Sabela and Rosa Cedrón – “Negro caravel”
  • Famous and Cesár Sampson – “Nobody But You”

Eurovision Gala of Operación Triunfo will be held in January to select the Spanish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Amaia y Alfred were selected through last year’s edition to represent Spain in Lisbon. They finished 23rd in the final with a total of 61 points, following their performance of “Tu canción”.
