Italy: “What is Love” To Be Staged By Fabrizio Palaferri

Fabrizio Palaferri has been announced as the Artistic Director of the Italian performance for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018.

For a third year running Fabrizio Palaferri has been revealed as the Artistic Director for Italy’s performance at Junior Eurovision. Fabrizio Palaferri will be staging the performance for Melissa and Marco, having staged the Italian performances at the competition since 2016.

Since 2000 Mr Palaferri has worked on Zecchino d’Oro, one of Italy’s most well known television shows showcasing young singers and performers. He has worked in television for over 30 years, both within Italy and Europe.

Who are Melissa and Marco?

Fourteen-year-old Marco Boni is from Abruzzo, Italy, and ten-year-old Melissa di Pasca is from Alassio. Marco attended “Musicomania” school in Avezzano, and has been recently attending the Italian Academy of Performing Arts in Rome. On top of this, Marco has won over 26 international competitions, including Sanremo Junior.

Melissa has also performed on many stages and shows in her career. Her most notable performance is at VB Factor Kids, an Italian musical competition.

In October it was revealed that the duo would represent Italy at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest with their song “What is Love”. The duo travelled to Venice to shoot the video for their song.

Italy debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2014. Their first and only win to date was on their debut, when Vincenzo Cantiello came in 1st place with 159 points with his song “Tu Primo Grande Amore”. Their worst result was in 2015 when twins Chiara & Martina came 16th with 34 points with their song “Viva”. Since their debut, Italy have participated in every contest.
