Khabar Agency has revealed the jury members for Kazakhstan’s first Junior Eurovision selection.
Eleven singers, performers, journalists and personalities will be helping to determine who will represent Kazakhstan at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The jurors will be reviewing the submissions received for the selection and determine who will make it through to the final. The jury members are:
- Tamara Assar
- Mariya Sadvakasova
- Erke Esmahan
- Kairat Nurtas
- Roza Rymbaeva
- Alan Azhibayev
- Lyalla Sultankyzy
- Renat Gaisin
- Bagim Mukhitdenova
- Meirambek Bespaev
- Dimash Kudaibergenov
Interested participants have until August 30 to apply to take part in the Kazakh selection. Singers aged between 9 and 14 years are invited to submit their songs for the Kazakh selection process. The rules of the selection are as follows;
- No more than six people can perform on stage
- All submitted songs must be new and cannot have been released previously
- Songs must be performed in Kazakh and cannot have more than 40% of the lyrics in English
Once the submissions window closes on August 30, all of the submissions will be evaluated by a jury. By September 7 a jury will have voted on the songs and select the finalists who will progress to the national final.
The Kazakh national final will take place in the third week of September, with the show to be broadcast live on Khabar. It has not been stated whether a jury alone, or the public will be voting in the national final.
Kazakhstan’s participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 is being organised by Khabar Agency. The broadcaster has yet to confirm how it will select its participant for Minsk. Khabar has been broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest live to viewers across Kazakhstan since 2010, with a commentary team covering the contest from Astana. Khabar has been an associate member of the European Broadcasting Agency since January 2016.
