Eugent Bushpepa has released the official revamp of “Mall”, Albania’s entry for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
This afternoon, the official Eurovision version of Eugent Bushpepa’s “Mall” was released, along with the song’s official music video. The song won the 56th edition of the Albanian music festival Festivali i Këngës back in December, yet at 4 minutes 30 seconds in length was too long to be entered into Eurovision. The song’s revamp took place over the past few weeks, with Eugent travelling to Brussels to record the track.
You can listen to the Eurovision version of “Mall” below:
“Mall” has now been reduced to 3 minutes long, and, like the original, will be performed entirely in Albanian when it takes to the stage in Lisbon. This will be the first time that Albania have performed in Albanian at the contest since 2013, when Adrian Lulgjuraj & Bledar Sejko performed “Identitet” in Malmö. The song failed to qualify for the final.
Eugent is a rock singer/songwriter from Rrëshen, Albania. He first sang at Festivali i Këngës in 2008 in a duet with Rovena Dilo, where they placed 12th out of 20 artists. He is a notable presence on the Albanian music scene, having competed in several competitions and performances throughout the years. Notably, he supported bands such as Deep Purple, and has performed with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron Thal.
“Mall” will be performed in the 1st semi final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, to take place in Lisbon this May.
