Maltese broadcaster TVM has revealed that after more than 70 hours, the filming for the music video of Taboo is now a wrap.

It was reported that filming did not go easily due to uncooperative weather conditions and most of the locations used were outside. The production team had to deal with weather that ranged from cold and windy to rainy throughout all days of filming.

The video will feature shots from 4 different locations: a nightclub in Rabat, Popeye’s village, Mizieb and St. Elmo. The making of the video also included the help of around 200 extras.

Christabelle’s entry for Malta, Taboo addresses the theme of mental health and was written by the singer alongside Johnny Sanchez, Muzu and Thomas G:son.

Christabelle won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in a final against 15 other songs with a total of 133 points. She follows Claudia Faniello as the Maltese Eurovision representative. In 2017, Claudia finished in 16th place in her semi-final in Kyiv with Breathlessly.

Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest

Malta debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and was represented by Joe Grech and the song “Marija L-Maltija”, which finished last. Malta competed again in 1972 and 1975 but then withdrew until their return in 1991. During the 1990s Malta only once finished outside of the top 10, and in 1998 they came within just 7 points of victory. It was Chiara who brought the country their 3rd place finish in 1998, and who went on to finish in 2nd at the 2005 contest in Kyiv. The only other artist to finish 2nd for Malta is Ira Losco, who was 12 points away from victory in 2002. They are the most successful country never to have won the Eurovision Song Contest.
