Tonight Malta will select the singer who will represent them at the 15th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Ten singers will take to the stage tonight all hopping to represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Georgia. The host of the competition is 22 year-old Francesca Zarb who is the presenter of Iz-Zona on TVM. Tonight’s selection will see the singers performing a cover of a well-known song, the public will then select the singer to represent Malta in Tbilisi.
The ten competing singers are:
- Thea Aquilina – This is a Man’s World
- Jahel Cardona – One Night Only
- Gianluca Cilia – Perdere l’amore
- Kira Copperstone – The Voice Within
- Riona Degiorgio – True Colors
- Rianne Demicoli – Satelite
- Aidan Jay Drakard – Mad World
- Demi Galea – Breathing Underwater
- Kylie Meilak – I Believe – Fantasia
- Veronica Rotin – And I Am Telling You

A total of eighty-four young singers applied to represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017, of which twenty were shortlisted. A jury selected ten singers from the shortlist to go through to the live national final. TVM had previously announced that the Maltese singer would be selected behind closed doors with no public involvement. In the final the winner will be decided by 100% televote.

In 2013 on their return to the competition in Kyiv, Gaia Cauchi won the competition with “The Start”, she was the first winner of a Eurovision event for Malta. In 2015 Destiny Chukunyere took victory in Sofia, Bulgaria with the song “Not My Soul”.
